CREATOR

Naomi Jaye is a filmmaker and installation artist known for her cinematic scale and unconventional storytelling. Through her company Tremendous Productions, she creates large-scale video installations, partnering with major arts institutions, including TO Live and Harbourfront Centre.

Her latest feature Darkest Miriam, executive produced by Charlie Kaufman, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, earning multiple Best Director awards and six Canadian Screen Award nominations.

Naomi is currently developing I've Found Her, a feature film about a woman in search of her future self.

CREATIVE PRODUCER

Celeste Ovita Cole is Tremendous Productions' Creative Producer and Artistic/Technical Designer. She produced SLOW and managed the community programming for 'Library as a Refuge' for 'Miriam's World' at Theatre Passe Muraille and The Water Series at Harbourfront Centre.

Outside Tremendous, she is a practicing artist, designs participatory programming through Ovitaspace and co-founded Recess Community.

CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIST

Bonnie is a creative technologist who arrived at who she is today through a run of self-taught turns. She holds a Bachelor of Interior Design from Toronto Metropolitan University, and from there taught herself to code and crossed into software engineering, taking roles at Jam3, an award-winning creative studio, and at Amazon, just to name a few. A later shift folded her design eye and her interest in code into a single practice. Today she works freelance, making art with code alongside her own studio work. 

She uses the camera as an instrument for bending the depths of reality, making images that live somewhere between the recorded and the real, where every surface becomes something to see through rather than look at. Her work lives where art and technology meet, and she treats that meeting as an open field to wander into. What holds her is the threshold, the moment a tracked gesture begins to loosen the edge between what is seen and what is imagined.

VIDEO CONTENT PRODUCER

Kurtis Leon Baker is a Canadian producer, actor, and writer. A graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, his work spans film & television, multi-screen installation, branded content, and theatre. Most recently, he was the co-showrunner of Bell TV1’s scripted comedy, WINE BOYS, and is currently developing his first feature film with the support of Telefilm Canada. Some previous projects include: TO BE LIKE THEM (NBA), DISH IT! (Bell TV1), GET THINKABLE, and BLOOD LINE.

SLOW is the fourth piece that Kurtis has had the pleasure to build with Naomi, and he looks forward to the continued collaboration!

CINEMATOGRAPHER

David Nguyen is a Toronto-based cinematographer with nearly 20 years of experience working in film and television. A graduate of the Toronto Film School, David’s work has spanned both traditional forms of media like feature films, documentaries, and commercials, as well as modern media pieces like video games, art installations, and animations. You may know him from his work on TVO’s Cutie Pugs, Toronto Independent Film Festival award-winning movie Stalkers, and a new TVO kid’s show debuting this fall, Hare of High Park.

David is proud to be a long-time collaborator of Naomi’s: their previous works include feature films The Pin and Darkest Miriam, as well as 4 art installations.

COMPOSER AND SOUND DESIGNER

Erik Arnesen is a Toronto-based audio professional, composer, and re-recording mixer whose work spans post-production sound, film and television, and music. An honours graduate of George Brown College’s Sound Design & Production program, specializing in spatial audio and ambisonics, Erik has worked on award-winning short films, television series, feature documentaries, and commercial projects for clients including Ogilvy Canada. He also brings over 15 years of on-set experience as an Assistant Director on productions including Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Boys, and The Umbrella Academy. A founding member of Siskiyou and longtime member of Great Lake Swimmers, Erik has toured internationally and contributed to projects earning Juno and Polaris nominations, as well as an Indie Award for Best Folk Album.

COMPOSER

Bret Higgins is a Toronto-based composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work spans film and television, ensemble music, arranging, recording, and performance. His composing has earned numerous awards, grants, residencies, scholarships, and commissions, with music performed across North America, Europe, Australia, and Brazil. As a performer, Bret has appeared with Great Lake Swimmers at the 2010 JUNO Awards, the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler, and Massey Hall’s 2014 Live at Massey Hall series. He has also performed at Carnegie Hall for Theodore Bikel’s 85th birthday and at the 2005 Governor General’s Awards at Ottawa’s National Arts Centre.

PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION & SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Karen Rooney is a Toronto-based photographer whose international life — including time spent living in India, China, and Poland, alongside her Irish roots — has shaped a deep curiosity about place, culture, and everyday life. With a background in art and design and a career rooted in news media, Karen brings a documentarian’s eye and a storyteller’s instinct to her work. She is especially drawn to street photography, finding beauty and authenticity in unscripted, everyday moments across the world.

Her images reflect the same sensibility that defines her broader practice: a commitment to honesty, presence, and seeing the world as it truly is, one frame at a time.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Rachel Wong is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary graphic designer. A proud BIPOC and queer creative, she brings experience across both corporate and non-profit sectors, with expertise in brand identity, visual storytelling, and campaign ideation.

She earned her Bachelor of Design (BDes with Specialized Honours) from the York University/Sheridan College Joint Program in Design in 2021. As a second-generation immigrant of Chinese heritage, Rachel's design philosophy is deeply shaped by her upbringing, balancing two cultures within an individual experience growing up in the diverse suburbs of Scarborough, Ontario. Above all, Rachel is driven by a desire for connection, using design to foster empathy and understanding, and to create meaningful, human-centered experiences. Rachel's overarching mission is to tell impactful culturally-driven stories while using design as her vessel.
